Laura Ingraham is already triggering left-wing smears just for being a Christian

Laura Ingraham is a stalwart champion of conservatism known for mercilessly drilling holes in the leftist narrative. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the media elites are triggered by Ingraham's new show, The Ingraham Angle -and doing all they can to defame her.

But an article at The Observer shows there's no limit to how low liberals are willing to go. Joe Lapointe, a former New York Times sports writers is so demeaning of Christians that he would be out of a job if he wrote what he did about any other religion.

The offensiveness starts right off the bat with the post's title: "Church Lady Laura Ingraham and Shannon Bream Debut Shows on Fox 'News.'"

There's the now-expected left-wing double standard. Muslims can be as devout as they like in their faith. For liberals, "tolerance" is a limitless virtue; except when it comes to tolerance of American conservatives, that is.

Lapointe takes issue with Ingraham wearing a cross, something for which he has criticized her before. Of course, wearing a cross is quite common for Catholics. But Lapointe uses this to argue that Ingraham is a "fundamentalist Catholic extremist." In an earlier article from this month, Lapointe called Ingraham a "militant Catholic."

What exactly makes Ingraham so "militant?" Besides wearing a cross, Lapointe seems to suggest that talking about Ronald Reagan and Frank Sinatra is the stuff of fundamentalists.

"In her first minute, Ingraham mentioned God along with Frank Sinatra and Ronald Reagan. She spoke in favor of 'God, family and country,' which is a nice way of saying 'blood and soil.'"

The meltdown of the left is complete. Lapointe really did just equate "God, family, and country" with the "blood and soil" slogan of the Nazis.

The Observer writer then went into a long rant about Ingraham's interview of Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly, accusing the retired Marine Corps. General and Gold Star father of lying about Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL). But what's a liberal "journalist" good for if not to unequivocally take Democrat politicians at their word on every issue?

Lapointe rebukes Ingraham for not pressing Kelly to apologize to Wilson.

"Perhaps Ingraham didn't want to take too many minutes away from Kelly's busy day-what will all the indictments and stuff-but she could have helped Kelly with a gracious way to let it go. Kelly could have said:

"'You know, I got a little hot-headed and I told a few lies and insulted two African-American women and they were right and I was wrong. So I apologize.'

"But that is certainly not a conciliatory tone that would please the amateur president, Kelly's increasingly incoherent, embarrassingly gauche, compulsively-dishonest, 71-year-old, red-necktied, orange-faced, yellow-haired boss.

"In building a coalition of evangelicals, "my generals," and zealots from the National Rifle Association, Trump and his staff know exactly who he wishes to offend and who will take pleasure in his crudity and cruelty."

Lapointe's jabs at President Trump are the strangest part of his ramblings. When did it become an insult to be 71-years old or wear a red necktie?

When you consider that this is what passes for journalism at contemporary left-wing outlets, it's no wonder liberalism is a dying faith that's rapidly losing its ability to win elections.
